Need a fast SUV that can run errands up and down a snow-covered road? If you?re late and in a hurry to soccer practice or a PTA meeting in the middle of winter, the below Head 2 Head episode will tell you exactly what premium SUV is right for the job.
Hosts Jonny Lieberman and Jason Cammisa pit two V-6, all-wheel-drive, five-passenger, four-door, high-horsepower SUVs against each other in cold and snowy conditions to see which one is the superior grocery getter. The Jaguar F-Pace S AWD sports a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that churns out 380 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque while the Porsche Macan GTS comes equipped with a 360-hp, 369-lb-ft 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6.
At a winter proving ground in Colorado, the Macan wins the frozen drag race, but do owners of these SUVs really care? The hosts didn?t think so, so they decided to race to the end of a snow track, pick up 15 boxes of Wheaties cereal then race back to the finish. With its superior traction, the Macan GTS wins again. But it takes more than that for an SUV to win Head 2 Head.
When the Macan first came out, it was so good that Jaguar delayed the release of the F-Pace and went back to the drawing board because it had to beat the Porsche. So did the extra development time pay off? Once the hosts take the two SUVs on some back roads in rural Utah, they realize how the slower but better-looking F-Pace proves to be more of a riot than the Macan on twisty roads. Will the fun-to-drive, sexy Jaguar take the crown from the SUV that put the ?sport? in sport utility? Click the video below to find out!
Also, see how the F-Pace S and Macan GTS stack up against another European rival, the Mercedes-AMG GLC43, in a three-way comparison.
